Six years ago, somebody left a duck on a stranger’s Jeep with a kind note. Today there are more than 750,000 people keeping that going. DuckCrate exists for them — five thoughtful ducks every month so they never run out, never show up empty-handed, and always have one rare one to keep on the dash.

In July 2020 a woman in Ontario walked across a parking lot and left a small yellow rubber duck on a stranger’s Jeep with a note that read “Nice Jeep.” She posted the moment on Instagram and went to bed.
By morning, the post had spread. Then it kept spreading. Six years later, there are more than 750,000people across Facebook groups, Reddit, TikTok, and dealership counters trading ducks on each other’s rigs as a small act of trail kindness.
The premise hasn’t changed: see a cool Jeep, leave a duck. Maybe a note. Make a stranger’s day. No politics, no agenda. Just a tiny act of kindness from one Jeeper to another.

We send five ducks every month — not eight, not twenty. Five is what fits in your console without taking over your console. Four to give away, one to keep on the dash.
The one you keep is the DuckCrate original— designed, sculpted, and painted in our Highland UT studio. Numbered. Named. Only here. The other four are community classics hand-picked from independent makers and small studios across the country.
We’re not the only duck makers.
There are great small-batch duck artists across the country — people sculpting and painting beautiful little rubber characters out of garages and studios. We didn’t want to compete with them. We wanted to ship them alongside our originals every month.
Each month we feature one guest maker in the curated four. We pay full price for their ducks (no affiliate squeeze), credit them prominently on the duck-pass card, and link to where you can buy more if you fall in love with their work.
It’s the rule of the trail: everyone gets to the trailhead together, or nobody does.

A meaningful share of every box is donated to a charity the community votes on each quarter. Veterans’ groups, trail-stewardship nonprofits, search-and-rescue, mental-health hotlines — whatever the subscribers pick.
